Fallen Angel is a sculpture I created many years ago with the intention of realizing it on a large scale. Unfortunately, that never happened. It is a conceptual piece in which I incorporated several additional elements due to imposed guidelines. Personally, I prefer the sculpture without these attributes, such as the harp or the scepter. Nevertheless, I tried to integrate them in a way that would meet the client’s expectations while remaining cohesive with the overall composition.
Like most of my sculptures at this scale, it features some underdeveloped details and proportions, but that is not their purpose. Their role is to convey a specific idea of composition and atmosphere. In later stages of execution, at full scale and in the final material, all imperfections are eliminated and the form becomes more refined—unless the process never reaches that stage, which happens quite often, as in this case.
