Lucjan Brychczy – a figure of Polish football who is probably known to everyone. He was associated with Legia Warsaw for 70 years.
The project of this sculpture was intended to present him as a player, coach, and club activist connected with Legia Warsaw. That is why I decided to depict him at an older age, with a ball under his foot – as a symbol showing that he was not only an official, but also a footballer. At the same time, his hand points to the letter “L”, referring to the symbolism of Legia.
The sculpture was intended to be made in bronze, with a base also in bronze or possibly granite. Unfortunately, to this day the work has remained at the stage of a plasticine model and a portrait study. The figure was planned to stand in front of the stadium, right next to my monument of Kazimierz Deyna.
This is a quick sketch presenting a concept for a monument of Lucjan Brychczy. The model, approximately 25 cm in height, was made of plasticine as a study for further formal exploration.
