Troll – Sculptural Sketch
This sketch, like many of my works inspired by the fantasy world, was created as a sculptural exercise and as a personal exploration of creature characters, which have always been close to my artistic interests.
I’m not only interested in the figure itself as an isolated character, but also in the overall spatial setup and pose of the sculpture. Because of this, I often begin developing a creature starting from its stance and composition, which later influences its physical features and personality.
It is always an interesting process. Even though I usually begin with an initial idea of who the character might be, it is the sculpting process itself that ultimately defines the final form and character of the piece.
This model was created many years ago and remains an unfinished sketch made in plasticine.
